Christmas Show

Nyk's band, The Teton Shadow Boys is doing a free show tonight, Monday the 21st, at 7:00 p.m. They're playing at the Craze on College Ave. in Rexburg. Everyone's invited to come listen to some amazing Christmas Bluegrass!!

Playing in the Snow

Last week we got to play in the snow a few times. Trenton loves for me to pull him around the yard in the sled while he picks up snow and eats it!

Making Snow Angels!!

We made an awesome snowman/mosquito. His facial features are very large for the size of his head. Treysen was freaking out that it didn't have a hat, so he gave the snowman his hat.

Officially Two Years Old

I can't believe that Trenton is two years old. The time sure flies. We had a family birthday party on his birthday, Friday the 11th. Here's some cute pics:

When he opened the stick horse he immediately rode away on it and we had to convince him to come back and open the rest of the presents.
The Lightening McQueen slippers were wrapped in a box and when Trenton unwrapped it and saw the box he got excited and said, "wow!" Apparently he thought we were giving him a box for his birthday.

Trenton loves trains and so I decided to make him a train cake for his birthday. It took me, my mom, my sister, and my sister-in-law about five hours to make this, including bake time. The only thing on it that is not edible is the Happy Birthday on the coal car and the wire holding the marshmallows out of the smokestack. It was hard watching all that hard work get eaten.

Trenton blowing out the candles. We had to sing 3 times so that he could blow out the candles. He wanted to blow them out a fourth time and we told him he could do it without us singing, so he started to sing Happy Birthday to himself before he blew them out! What a cutie!

Here are some of the things my little two-year-old is doing now:

He's really started to talk in sentences recently although this has brought quite an attitude. Some of his favorite phrases include, "stop it," "leave please," "go away," and "don't like it." He's definitely in his terrible twos, but he can be the sweetest thing too. He also likes to say, "I love you," "what happened" and " you ok?" (when someone's sad or hurt). He is a very independent boy; he wants to do everything for imself including eating, dressing and playing, but not including using the potty! Dang! He likes to say, "I wanna try," "I did it" and "good job." He learns new things everyday. I'm amazed at how much he knows. He can count to 10, name all the basic colors and shapes, and sing parts of primary songs. Trenton has a better memory than I do and loves to play memory games! He loves watching movies and loves Blue's Clues, Bob the Builder, and Barney. He's obsessed with trains, cars, motorcycles, fourwheelers, trucks and especially tractors. He loves horses and no matter the weather he has to go pet the horses at Grandma and Grandpa Vail's house. We're just so happy to have him and love to watch him grow!

Putting up the Christmas Tree

So, I'm finally posting about putting up our Christmas tree. This was Trenton's first time helping decorate. He kept putting two or three on the same branch and then got frustrated when they'd slide off. Silly kid!

Thanksgiving update

I know its been a while, but I wanted to post some pictures of our trip to Utah the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving. We spent the night in a hotel and Trenton got to go swimming which he loved. He screamed the whole back to the hotel room! I guess he wanted to turn into a prune. While Nyk went to the BYU vs. Utah game with his friend Orlan, I went to the Children's museum with Trenton, Corteiga and Treysen. We had a blast. I highly recommend this museum. We played for at least 4 hours and they still could have kept going.

Testimony Builder

So, Trenton and I spent a lot of time at my parent's house last week (see last post) and we had quite an experience one of the nights that we were there. Trenton loves to play hide-and-seek and I never considered this would be a problem until Trenton decided to hide without telling us. I thought that Trenton had gone downstairs with his uncle Tanner, but when I went down to check on them Tanner had no idea where he was. So, I checked with my Mom and Dad and he was not there. I figured, he's hiding and I checked his usually hiding spots. He wasn't there; now I was starting to worry slightly. Everyone started looking through all the rooms, but no one could find him. Now, I'm starting to freak out! My Dad got ready to go outside and look even though I hadn't heard any of the doors open and close. I ran downstairs and started thouroughly searching every room shouting, "please Trenton, please come out, we don't know where you are." I don't know how he could have mistook my sobs and frantic voice as playing, but he didn't appear. By this point, awful thoughts are running through my head about him being stuck somewhere where he's hurt or unconscious. I ran down the basement hallway ready to help look upstairs and everyone else was heading downstairs toward me. My dad said, "right here, every one kneel down" at the opening to my sister's bedroom. He said a prayer while I tried to keep back the sobs. As soon as the prayer was over we look up at one another and Trenton comes walking out of my sister's closet holding a sucker, which he apparently thought he was in trouble for having. I gave him an extremely tight hug and balled with relief. Trenton had no idea what was going on, but I assure you I had a good talk with him and helped him understand he has to tell us if he's hiding or we won't know. I'm extremely grateful for prayer, and the Holy Ghost. Had we not kneeled at that exact spot for Trenton to hear our prayer and come out, who knows how long it would have taken us to find him.

A Busy Week

Nyk played guitar and banjo for the Idaho Falls Youth Arts Council's production of Annie this past week. Trenton and I got to go down with him and hang out with my family for Tuesday night, Wednesday night, all day Friday, all day Saturday and this past Monday and Tuesday night. It was a lot of going down to Idaho Falls and I'm glad for the break, but I loved hangin' with my family. I think Trenton loved it even more. All he would talk about was, nanner (Tanner), Sanny (Savanna), Bompa (Grandpa), Wiee (Riley), Tintin (Tiffany), Nics (Nicolas) and marmar (Grandma). He finally gave in and said grandma. He's been able to say Grandpa for almost 7 months now, but he would only sign grandma. I guess he decided he really did know how to say it! What a cutie. I am absolutely amazed at how much he is learning. He knows his colors and can sometimes count correctly. He says new things every day and has started saying sentences such as "play blocks me" or "more tractors please." He suchs a joy to have and I'm grateful most for him and my husband this Thanksgiving. They mean everything to me.

My dad went on a trip to China and brought back Trenton and his cousin Riley matching silk pajamas. Wouldn't they just fit in over there with there toeheads?!

The Rubbles

For our ward party and for Halloween night we wore the costumes that I made for us. We thought Trenton would make such a cute Bamm-Bamm that Nyk and I decided to be Barney and Betty. My dress was quite the adventure, but the rest was pretty fun and easy to sew. My Dad made the amazing foam club and my Mom helped me alter the dress. What would we do without amazing parents? And apparently I could pull off having short, black hair. I think I'll stick with blond though.

Trunk-or-treat with friends

The Lunds were nice enough to invite us to their ward's trunk-or-treat and we got to see our friends the Anderson's who moved to Idaho Falls. It was pretty cute that Treysen was a frog, Courtney was a monkey and Trenton was a dog. The little animals!

Carving Pumpkins

On the 24th we carved pumpkins with my family. Trenton did not want to touch the pumpkin guts. He just kept pulling the lid off, saying, "ew" and then putting the lid back on. Isn't he so cute in his diaper?!

Trenton said he wanted a truck carved in his pumpkin (the little motor head!) so Nyk carved/shaved one into his pumpkin for him.

When we were all done carving we had cupcakes. Trenton decided he needed to eat his with his face so he wouldn't get his hands dirty.

The night before Halloween we carved pumpkins with Orlan, Corteiga and Treysen. Trenton wanted the spider and Nyk whipped out the other one for our ward party on Wednesday!

Fall Leaves

A couple of weeks ago the fall leaves looked so pretty outside on our maple tree so we had to take some pictures. I set up the tripod and got some pictures of Trenton and I. Trenton took lots of pictures of himself later that day. I have about 15 pictures of Trenton doing his cheesy grin!

Where did my little baby go?

Lately I've felt like Trenton is growing up so fast. He's not my little baby anymore. He's going through an independent stage where he wants to do everything himself. He says "try, try" a lot! His favorite game now is hide-and-seek. Nyk, Trenton and I played hide-and-seek for almost an hour last night. Trenton would always hide in our closet. He didn't quite understand that we knew he would be there if he hid in the same spot all the time. He's really starting to play creatively with his toys. He loves building things out of his lego blocks and the other morning I came in his room and he had all his cars lined up. He's very particular about how things are put away and likes to organize things, just like his Mom!He also wants to do just what Mom and Dad do, including wearing our stuff--Dad's ties and hats and even Mom's high heels. We can't forget Trenton's growing love for music. He likes to be sung to and loves to join dad when he's giving a banjo lesson. Last night we sung "Love One Another" four times with the actions as he tried to do the signs and sing along too. He loves to dance and play his mandolin. Crazy Boys

For those of you who don't know, I have been watching my friend's 2 year old boy, Treysen, while she does her student teaching. I watch him 8-3 Monday through Thursday. It has been an interesting experience, but Trenton loves having a little buddy to do stuff with. They do some pretty funny things. The other day, Treysen was playing with my keyboard and he was really getting into the music. He looks like a little Stevie Wonder!

They also like putting the Jimmy Bob teeth in their mouth, but they wouldn't let me get very good pictures. Treysen is spitting his out and Trenton has his in upside down!

I'm with the band!

Nyk's band, Teton Shadow Boys (formerly known as The Lazy Boys), played at the Rexburg Farmer's Market on Friday night. They were also the last band to play at Battle of the Bands with Rexburg Unplugged on Saturday night and got first place! Those of you that are looking for someone to play for an event. Woolstenhulme Family Reunion

This weekend was the Woolstenhulme Family Reunion. Trenton loved going for a ride in the boat. My cousins Erica and Macey came with us. It's so cute when Trenton says there names!

My parents got a new wakeboard tower so we're finally able to jump the wake. I got a video of Nicolas doing some wakeboarding, but of course when I wasn't recording was when he did his best jump!

Adventures at the Jackson Rec. Center

For our labor day weekend fun, we went to the Jackson Recreation Center for some swimming with Corteiga, Orlan and Treysen.

Trenton would walk around in the 2 1/2 ft high water with it up to his chin and wasn't even scared. He fell down a couple times and was startled when we picked him back up, but he would keep right on going, refusing for us to hold him. At least he's learned to close his mouth when he goes under the water.
Treysen was pretty skeptical and afraid at first, but slowly started to warm up. He didn't like the slides at all though. Trenton on the other hand kept saying, "again, again!"

Eating Like a Big Boy

Trenton has been able to eat with a fork for a while now, but the spoon is much harder. Recently, he has just about mastered eating with a spoon and drinking out of a cup. Since we took away his bottle he won't drink milk. After a month and a half of practically no milk we are finally getting him to drink milk out of a cup as long as he gets to dip cookies in it too!

I can't believe how big my little boy is getting. For some insane reason, I miss the days when he needed me to do everything for him!
