October and November

So, life's a little crazy with two little ones, but that's no excuse for my lack of blogging.  I'll try to catch-up a little and then hopefully stay caught up.

In the middle of October we took a trip to Utah for a missionary homecoming/baby blessing.  We went to the Hogle Zoo with my family and got to take some great pictures with family.

Karlee Pauline Vail was given a name and a blessing on October 24, 2010

She was blessed in the dress that I was blessed in.  I made the bracelet and bow.

Trenton got so excited about the first snow in November that we had to get all bundled up and head out to make a snowman.

This is our new black lab puppy, Arrow.  I'm still not sure about having a dog, but he sure is super cute!

While Nyk has been hunting in the last few weeks, Trenton, Karlee and I have spent a lot of time at my Mom and Dad's house which has been super fun, but of course the kids have been spoiled with fun and attention.

And finally, an update on Karlee.  On the 1st she had her 2 month check-up and got her shots.  She cried for a little while and I felt so bad I was practically crying.  I'm so grateful for immunizations, but I sure wish there was a nicer way to do it!

Stats:  

Weight: 10.8 lbs -- 52nd percentile

Length: 23 in. -- 76th percentile 

Head: 15 in. -- 34th percentile

She loves to smile and is a really good baby.  

She sure spits up a lot, so we do a lot of wash.

She loves the swing and will only sometimes take a pacifier.

She coos and sticks her tongue out and has just found her fist and loves to suck on it.

We are all so glad she's part of our family!!!

The pictures you've all been waiting for!

So, my previous post explained that my water broke Thursday, the 30th, in the morning.  I went in to the doctor who said everything was fine to go home and wait for contractions, but they never came.  I started getting some very mild ones around 4:00, but we held out going to the hospital for as long as possible hoping she would still be born in October.  We finally went in at about 7:30 p.m.  By 9:00 the had me hooked up to Pitosin to get the contractions going.  We watched River Monsters on Discovery channel for two hours waiting for the contractions to get worse (more effective).  By 11:30 I was at 7 cm. and the contractions were so bad I didn't care if she came before midnight I was ready to be done!!  I was ready to push at 12:25 and 6 minutes (4 pushes) later Karlee was born!  They put her right on to my belly and I was able to nurse her for the first time.  It was an amazing experience! They weighed her and checked her and got her somewhat cleaned up.  They weighed her at 5 lbs. 1 oz. which we later found out was incorrect. She was 6 lbs. when we left the hospital and babies usually lose a couple ounces before they leave.  So we're saying, by the pediatrician's guess, that she was 6 lbs. 2 oz.  This makes so much more sense, because even though she looks tiny she does not look like she would be premie weight (she was only 10 days early).  She had to have her blood sugar levels tested while we were there since she supposedly weighed so little, but they were normal.  She also had to have her Bilirubin (sp) levels tested a couple times, but she only has slight jaundice (nothing to worry about).  We're glad she's here and she's healthly.  Trenton just loves her to death and has acted like nothing has changed except that he has a new sister to kiss and hold.  He's really good at getting me wet wipes out of the warmer and putting her pacifier in or telling me when she cries.  He's an amazing big brother!!

So, the day has finally come and I am still waiting!!  My water broke this morning at about 7:30.  I went to the doctor at 8:30 and they said everything looked good after doing a stress test (heart rate for 15 min.) on the baby and even though I was already dilated to 5 cm. they said I could go home and wait.  So, I went home and got my house cleaned, did the dishes, played with Trenton, took a shower, painted my toenails . . . and the contractions still hadn't started!!!  It is 4:30 pm and I've finally been having some slight contractions every 3 minutes apart for the last 45 minutes.  My doctor's still okay with me waiting to go to the hospital, so I thought hey, may as well catch up my blog, while I'm sitting around!!  I really thought I would have an October baby (especially since I was due on the 10th) and she may be yet if I can just make it until midnight!!  Nyk told me to keep my legs crossed. :) Like that's gonna work!!  So, anyway, I will keep everyone posted and get some pictures of little Karlee as soon as she's here!!!

Me or someone I know drowning.

2. What one object (not person) makes you the happiest?

My sewing machine/surger--I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't sew!

Fish (the really fishy tasting river fish . . . blech)

4. If you could be famous for something, what would you want it to be?

Doing something kind/heroic for someone else

Cinderella

Right here in Rexburg, where I live now!  I love it here!!

I've always loved Chevy Cobalts for their looks, but when it comes to practicality and fitting my lifestyle, definitely the Expedition that I have now . . . I love it!!!

The Latest

So, if you go to my next two posts you'll see what we've been doing this summer, but here is the latest.

We started our garden really late this year, but we've gotten a few wonderful veggies out of it. 

I picked all three of these zucchinis at the same time after not checking the garden for a few days.

Trenton got to ride one ride and he picked the cars one.  Imagine that!

Last of all, an update on the pregnancy.  I only have a month left and I'm feeling ready and not at the same time.  There's still things to get done, but this pregnancy has been a lot different then the first.  My feet are always swollen, I'm warmer than Nyk (which is really weird), and because Karlee sits so low I always feel like I need to pee and almost do every time I sneeze or jump.  It's horrible, but I shouldn't complain, because a lot of people have it a lot worse than I do!  Trenton's getting really excited to see Karlee and so are we . . . 5 more weeks!
